Sometimes swimming and sometimes surfing....

We seriously have been blessed with an outpouring of love for our son and our family and I am so thankful!  Our Father has given us such a wonderful family, church family, coworkers, and friends in our time of need.  We seem to get emails and cards and calls daily.  I am humbled and also challenged.  We received a card yesterday from a coworker and friend of Tara's that had a quote that said. " You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf" (author unknown)  That was such a shot in the arm...for some reason it hit me at the right time.  There are some days we feel like we are bobbing in the waves taking on water...some days we are swimming, and some days we are surfing.  Today is a surfing day for me...praise the Lord and thanks for your prayers! :)

Last night as I prayed holding Tara and touching her tummy...my son would not stop kicking :)  Maybe I was just a little too long winded for him :)  I've been told that before :)  But it brought joy to my heart that he responded and I am thankful for one more day with our son.  Naiah's favorite stuffed animal is the giraffe below.  OK...honestly...I'm not sure if he's really Naiah's favorite or just Tara's, but for the sake of argument...let's assume they both like him a lot :).  So we're trying to come up with a name for this critter and Tara doesn't like my suggestion....my favorites are Gerard or Geraldo (sp?).  So we're putting it out there for you all to think about and comment on maybe a good name....so far we've thought of the following....

1. Benny
2. Geraldine
3. Geraldo
4. Gerard
5. James
6. Jack
7. Jimmy
8. George
9. Jeffrey
10. Jesse

So...help us out and send us your thoughts...I'm not promising anything, but we might treat the winner to dinner at our humble abode...or an autographed pic of ________ the giraffe :)  Love you all...thanks for your encouragement and prayers...they are VERY VERY appreciated :)  We love you guys!

  2. Hey, I was trying to post but Jack was touching the computer. :) I asked Jack what you should name it and his response was "yoda." So there you have it, guys. :) Surely you don't want to disappoint your nephew....hehehehe.

  3. Brad and Tara,

I read your blog with tears streaming down my face...such sadness. But there is also such hope, and it is so evident that God is WITH YOU in this. I love you guys, we will be praying.

  4. How about some Turkish names with some super meaning:
    Barish (peace)
    Sevgi (love)
    Guzel (Beautiful - pronounced "Goozell")

    Just throwing them out!
    Love you guys!

  7. I 'fell' upon your blog and have greatly enjoyed reading all the work God is doing. Although you were in our long row of 'young' adults, at church last weekend, I was at the other end of that row and never got a chance to grab and hug you both. Hugs to come!!!

About the name: although I do enjoy Gerard (Hi-larious!), I think it could be slightly difficult for Banaiah to pronounce. And Geraldo makes me think of Geraldo Rivara....Brad did you watch his show back in the day?!? :) I like Jack, it's easy to pronounce, and although Banaiah is brilliant, obviously(!), I can imagine him snuggling a 'Jack'.

Much love, and prayers, for you both.

  8. Okay. So seriously...of course Jack is a marvelous name. No pressure though. I do like Benny, but somewhat resembles Benaiah, so I like either Jack, Yoda (see above comment of mine), or Gerard. I don't know why, Gerard is kinda cute. Love you guys!

  9. I think Gerald because he reminds me of the Gerald in the book "Giraffes Can't Dance" :)

  10. You guys have been on my heart and in my prayers since I found out what you're facing last month. Even though we have never met, know that there are more people than you might think who are lifting you before His throne!

And, I like Jesse the giraffe. ;)
